February 26, 2008 Old Settlers Meeting

Meeting called to order 7:52

Theme voted on: 125 Years –Start Of A New Generation

Food vendors – discussion on letting out of town vendors sell.

There was a concern from the Church stand on other vendors.

Carnival must have certain amount of sales or they will not commit again.

Voted to let local vendors only, Collins-Maxwell only.

Discussion for next meeting:

Fee charge for food vendors – has been $30 for the whole weekend.

We need to discuss and vote on a larger fee for food vendors.

Fund Raisers – Ideas discussed for fund raisers.

1. Serve breakfast before city wide garage sales – nothing too big.

2. Prime rib dinner.

3. Casino Night or bingo night – need more info on how to run that.

4. Putting together a “year book” style collection of photos around town – this needs more discussion on this. Much more work will be involved.

5. Selling t-shirts – discussed having 2 different styles and designs.

Building picnic tables – get wood donated, and have volunteers to build them. We can build them on a weekend; have people bring food for all.

Also ask Fire Fighters to help – since they use them for their events too.

Ran thru tentative schedule of events for weekend.

Royalty for parade- Grand Marshall has been nominated, and accepted. King & Queen nominees are being contacted. Prince & Princess names will be drawn in July.

Fireworks – a vendor has been contacted.

Next meeting March 25^th, sub-committees will meet before or after main meeting at 7 p.m.

Items for discussion: Civil War Reenactment.
