Old Settlers Meeting April 29, 2008

Meeting called to order 6:58

• Presented hat and shirt samples for staff and security.

Vote on staff shirts – Old Settlers Logo on front – EVENT STAFF on back.

Security Shirts – no logo. SECURITY on front and back.

Vote - Committee members will pay for their own shirts and hats.

Vote – Security volunteers will be given a shirt.

We will sell hats to the community. Embroidered with Old Settler’s logo. A few businesses in town will sell them, and also we will have them at the raffle booth during Old Settlers.

• Koozies – we will sell koozies at the beer tent – sell for $2 or with drink tickets- buy so many and get a free koozie.

• Went over event schedule. It will be posted on the OS web site this week. A few things need to be added. But it is pretty well set.

• Advertisement – KJJY will be doing a live broadcast at the park on Friday before the concert. Also radio announcements the week before.

Trying to get some companies to help sponsor the broadcasts and help defray the costs.

KCCI community calendar is another idea. Placing ads in The Sun newspaper too.

Tri County times too.

• Need volunteers to help hand out flyers at local events. Carol has a list of local events in nearby towns. We will need people to take some time during those events to hand out our flyers. We need to get the word out.

• State Center Celebration
• Collins Days
• Cambridge Jubilee Days
• Baxter Days
• Nevada Fourth of July Parade
• Zearing Days

• We will have a coloring and essay contest for the elementary and local home schooled students. OS committee will donate a kid’s bike for an overall winner – name drawn.

We will also give away 10 ride tickets to winner of essay contest, and coloring contest. ALL entries will be posted in Logsdon’s front windows.

Call Tri County Times to have a picture of winners.

• Budget – went over beginning balances, expenses. Numbers are preliminary, and can be adjusted.

• Fundraiser – BBQ at Pal’s June 7^th. This will be on the City Wide Garage Sale day. Need volunteers to come help cook. We will serve burgers of dogs, with 2 sides, and a drink for $5. Extra sandwich for $2.

Dr Fever will play tunes. And we will have flyers to hand out for all the OS events. Get the word out!!

June 7^th – Pal’s Courtyard 10:30 – 1:30. All proceeds to go rebuilding the Band Stand.

• Maxwell Celebrity Dunk Tank Contest. Friday afternoon into early evening and Saturday 12 – 3:00. Local area business owners or employees will each be in the tank for 30 minutes. All proceeds go to rebuilding the Band Stand.

This will be a contest to see which celebrity raises the most money. They will win a t-shirt.

Carol will make us a “thermometer” to post, hopefully, at the billboard sign on main street. So the town can see how much money we have for the Band Stand Fund.

• Cook your own dinner – at Pal’s. $20 cook your own steak on a grill outside.

Discussed doing this sometime this summer.

• 50/50 Fundraiser – sell tickets all summer long.

Voted yes. We will start selling tickets at the BBQ June 7^th. This will take place until August 3, when we do the raffle drawing.

• Raffle prizes – need to start on list of prizes. Rachel has a list of business to send letters to and ask for donations. We can’t start selling raffle tickets until we have a list of prizes.

Next meeting May 27^th. Beer Crew Committee needs to be there at 6.
